In the heart of Istanbul’s business district, a tower that refuses single-function zoning. Public programmes from ground to the fifth floor; residential above; a panoramic terrace with city views at the top.
Urban Context
The building occupies a corner plot within its block. The corner where two street facades converge was defined as a pedestrian entrance and a small plaza. This ground-level permeability opens a new circulation route around the block.
Facade System
Aluminium composite panel combined with high-performance double-glazing. The south facade uses horizontal louvres for solar control while creating rhythm. The north facade is more transparent; the ratio of solid to void is reversed.
Ground Floor Programme
- Publicly accessible entrance hall and exhibition space
- Children’s library (local authority partnership)
- Restaurant and café: direct street relationship
- Office and residential entrances: separate, yet not detached from the urban realm
“A tower exists not only through its height, but through what it gives back to the ground.”
